About

SAP BASIS Administrator | SAP HANA | SAP Security

I'm Ikram Mehmood, an SAP BASIS Administrator at TallyMarks Consulting in Islamabad, working on the HEC HEDP SAP S/4HANA On-Premise landscape.

I came to SAP from software engineering. I started in SAP Security and GRC as a remote intern with Xplor Group, then moved into BASIS — closer to the systems themselves, where a failed backup, a missing authorization or a broken connection has immediate consequences. I enjoy that responsibility, and the steady learning that comes with it.

What I work on

  • SAP HANA 2.0: installation (HDBLCM), backup and recovery, system replication and monitoring
  • SAP S/4HANA administration: SWPM installations, profile parameters, licences, certificates, RFC connections
  • Transports and SAP Notes across DEV → QAS → PRD
  • SAP PO installation and updates, SAProuter and connectivity
  • SAP Security: users, roles and authorization troubleshooting
  • Fiori/OData service activation and troubleshooting
  • SUSE Linux operations for SAP systems

Why this site exists

I write things down. Every issue I troubleshoot and every concept I learn is easier the second time if I've explained it once. The technical blog is that notebook, made public in case it helps someone facing the same problem.

Research

Before SAP, I contributed to machine learning research with the Institute of Machine Learning and Data Intelligence at Huizhou University (remote): a hybrid CNN–ViT model for breast cancer histopathology (second author, under review at IEEE TMI) and a paper on EEG-based speaker extraction.

Honors

  • Merit Scholarship for Academic Excellence — top 5 of program, MUST (2022)
  • Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme — merit-based selection (2023)
  • AJK State Talent Scholarship — Government of AJK (2023–2024)

Outside work

I was Treasurer of the Computer Society (IEEE MUST branch), helped organise MUSTCON events, served as App Lead at GDSE, and taught a six-day Flutter workshop to 30+ students.

I'm open to new opportunities, including relocation to the GCC.
